Cupcakes!

We held our primary activity today at my house in order for all baking materials to be easily available. Aside from that I know that baking with the kids can cause a lot of mess and we don't want to do that in the chapel.

I taught the kids how to prepare and bake easy-cupcake mix (as baking from scratch takes a lot of time) and how to make two types of icing: butter cream icing and fondant icing.

The kids were so excited to make their own cupcakes that they insist in doing much of the work. By the way, I also bought some candies for extra toppings ;)

Color Page, Ideas for Nursery Teachers

We have seven nursery students in our ward, which is why the teachers are always making sure that they have prepared enough activities for these young kids every Sunday.  Aside from listening to comforting music, children love making paper crafts and color some stuffs. As I search around the internet, I found this site with lots of compiled materials that can be used in every nursery class.

My daughter is a coloring book fanatic and I know she'll enjoy putting this pictures into life as she puts her desired colors on it.

Here are some color page materials you might like:

Primary Baptism

Three children will be baptized tomorrow and I need to prepare a small talk for this wonderful occasion. I was actually thinking of new and creative ways on how I can deliver my talk, with topic "Living Testimony". It's nice to know that there are a lot of resources that can help us members to learn and ponder on different topics that will also enable us to strengthen our testimony in the church.

Aside from my talk, I have come across these primary baptism certificates that I will be printing for them. Please note that these certificates do not intend to replace the baptismal certificates that the church has. I got this from the same site that I have linked in my blog before, melonheadsldsillustrating.

In the same site, you will also find cute primary advancement certificates!

Happy printing! Have a great day!

I Will Read the Book of Mormon

This year, we will all be studying about the Book of Mormon, which is primarily known as the keystone of our religion. We are all encouraged to read and ponder upon this book verse by verse, chapter by chapter in order for us to truly understand the gospel of Christ and live with it.

Most of my primary students don't have their own scriptures --and that makes our class discussion harder. I feel that every child should have his or her own copy so that at a young age, he or she can search, ponder and pray about it which is why y one of my goals is to provide the kids in our ward their own Book of Mormon. I always tell the children, especially those who already have their own copy, to always take good care of this book, as this book contains the word of God.

In order to help motivate the children to have a daily scripture reading, I made some bookmarks (that I will be distributing together with the book) that they can use. I do hope that these small crafts can somehow remind and encourage them  not to take scripture reading for granted.

You can also print these bookmarks or create your own. :)

I did not sail with the brother of Jared in crossing an ocean, settling in a new world.

I did not hear King Benjamin speak his angelically delivered sermon.

I did not proselyte with Alma and Amulek nor witness the fiery death of innocent believers.

I was not among the Nephite crowd who touched the wounds of the resurrected Lord, nor did I weep with Mormon and Moroni over the destruction of an entire civilization.

But my testimony of the Book of Mormon and the peace it brings to the human heart is as binding as was theirs. I declare to the world that the Book of Mormon is true, that it came forth the way Joseph said it came forth and was given to bring happiness and hope to the faithful in the latter days.

Primary Songs 2012

Primary presentations are held once a year. This is the time wherein the kids will be singing songs they have learned for the past months and they will be sharing testimonies and learned passages from the scriptures. Primary songs are essential not only for this event but for the whole learning process, which is why I intend to include here the songs that should be studied every month.

Here are also some ideas (mostly found at sugardoodle) you can use in class.Just click on the song title to go to song helps!
